Just over a week away from setting out on a 24-date tour with the Thermals, New York City indie-rock quartet Cymbals Eat Guitars are offering up free MP3s of 4 brand new songs they performed recently on BBC Radio’s Music 6. According to a news update on their website (via David Greenwald of Rawkblog), “Wavelengths,” “Plainclothes,” “Tunguska,” and “Definite Darkness” will appear on the highly anticipated follow-up to their excellent ‘09 debut, Why There Are Mountains. Listen to this song immediately. Every time it comes up on my shuffle I’m all like, “Listen to this song every GD day, dude.” Lee Moses is a killer vocal mushroom cloud from the first wail on. That snare is holding on for dear life as the whole band basically combusts. You can hear the whole band sweating and swaying. And it makes heartbreak comfortingly epic.

Look! Drew Barrymore’s character is such a fun-loving guy’s girl! She watches sports and who cares if she has sauce from chicken wings on her face! What a down-to-earth character completely different from any other female lead in any other romantic comedy!
Sauce on the face, but not on the fingers. That means that she’s so down to earth that she simply eats the hot wings off the plate like a hungry dog, gnawing bones into a digestible pulp while she does it. So yeah, maybe she really is something special.
