FYI the US has ended the war with iraq. wait, what?

early this morning, the final US combat brigade exited iraq, crossing the border into kuwait. combat operations officially end at the end of the month. 50,000 troops will remain in iraq through 2011 to advise the iraqi military and protect US interests—compare that to 150,000 active troops at the height of the war.

PJ Crowley, the spokesperson for the US State Department is quoted as saying “This is the end of the war, but not the end of our work.” Political doublespeak, maybe, and yes, W did say “Mission Accomplished” over 6 years ago… but dude said the war is over.
